No integration to set up
We read the reports and statements your client's systems already export — and hand back a workbook that opens anywhere.
…and any other PDF, CSV or photo the client sends
Prep time — not review skill — is what caps how many returns a season can hold. A senior can review far more jobs than they can prepare; this closes that gap without another hire.
Automated right up to the point that needs a human
Three steps. The first two are ours, the third is yours — and nothing reaches the third without a figure you can trace.

Drop the files in
Receipts, bank statements, PAYG summaries, the trial balance — PDF, image or CSV, in any order, and no renaming or sorting first. Drag them in yourself, or send the client one link and let them upload from wherever they are.

We read, check and pre-fill
Each document is classified, its figures extracted and GST-checked, then mapped to the right ATO label. Low-confidence reads are held back rather than guessed.

Chasing documents is no longer your job
Chasing documents is one of the biggest time sinks in an individual season — jobs stall waiting on one statement, not on hard tax. Last year's return is the check: if a client declared rental income then and nothing has arrived now, that isn't a judgement call, it's a missing statement.
So the chase list writes itself and goes to the client as a link. They upload from their phone, the list ticks itself off, and the exchange stays on the case instead of your inbox — the follow-up hours go back into finishing returns.
- Bank & term-deposit interestItem 10
Two accounts paid interest last year. Nothing has arrived this year.
- Dividend & managed-fund statementsItem 11
Franked dividends in the prior return, no statement in the file yet.
- Rental agent's annual statementItem 21
A rental property was declared last year.
- Work-related car logbookD1
Car expenses were claimed on a logbook last year. No logbook this year.
Click any figure. See the page it came from.
That is the whole bet, so here is what it rests on. Every number links straight to the document, page and line it came from — review means confirming exceptions in seconds, not re-deriving the paper from the shoebox.

answer before the build and it never becomes a review point
It asks you before it builds
Every document is read before anything is generated, and the judgement calls are collected into one place rather than surfacing one at a time. The run parks and asks — with the options it thinks apply and the one it would pick — then carries on with your answer.
Whatever is still open when the workbook is built gets written into it as a review point, on its own sheet. Answer early and it never becomes one.
- It asks rather than guesses — and says which way it would go
- A TFN spotted on a document sends that document to review
- Every change is in the audit log — who, what, when
Don't agree with a figure? Tell it.
The working paper opens with the assistant beside it. Ask about any figure, or select cells in the sheet and ask about the selection.
It corrects figures, reclassifies lines and ticks reviews while you watch. Anything structural goes back to the build — with your sign-off, never without it.
You cannot do this with a team in another timezone.
The logbook is 62%, not 68% — it changed in March.
Updated. Motor vehicle is now A$796.57, and the change is on the review sheet with your name against it.
Your clients' records, handled properly
You hold the most sensitive paperwork in your clients' lives. Encrypted on arrival, visible only to your firm, stored in Australia — and we name every provider we use.
- Encrypted on arrival
- Every file is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.2+) and at rest (AES-256) — protected before it lands on a server, and kept that way.
- Visible only to your firm
- Documents are isolated per firm and access-controlled. No other firm — and nobody at BeforeMay — can browse your clients' files.
- Open about where data goes
- Your files and case data are stored in Australia, and TFNs, Medicare, passport and licence numbers are removed here before analysis. One step leaves the country — the AI analysis, under a no-training commitment — and every provider we may use, with the country it processes in, is named in our privacy policy.
Priced by the job, not the seat
Early access · first 3 returns free (A$108)Per return is how offshore prep is invoiced too, so this list reads line-for-line against a bill you may already know. These are the prices billing will start at — nothing is charged today and you get notice before that changes. Australian pricing, GST inclusive.
An individual return is A$36 at list, A$30 prepaid, from A$21.81 on a plan. Counted from your uploads before the build starts — never re-priced afterwards.
Over that number, work queues — nothing is turned away. Pay as you go builds 3 at a time.
Every plan side by side — your rate per individual return (the same past your allowance), storage, support, and how the annual plan carries a peaked season.
What a prepared return costs, both ways
Sending those 400 returns out costs A$18,000 a season; the same preparation here starts at A$10,800, and comes back the same day with every figure linked to its document. Either way you are buying preparation only — the review and the signature stay with your registered agent.
Common questions
Including the ones with awkward answers. These are the short versions — click any question for the full one.
All questions- Where does my clients' data actually go?
- Everything we run ourselves is in Sydney — storage, identifier removal, reading text off a scan, building the workbook. One step leaves: the AI analysis, with an overseas provider named in our privacy policy.
- Do you strip personal information before the AI sees it?
- Tax File Numbers, Medicare, passport and licence numbers, yes — removed in Australia before anything is sent. Names and figures stay, because they are what makes the working paper checkable.
- Do I need a separate AI consent from every client?
- You do need the client's permission, but it usually doesn't have to be a new one. A general third-party disclosure authority in your engagement letter may already cover it.
- What happens when the AI gets something wrong?
- It gets flagged, not lodged. Anything read with low confidence goes to Needs review, and nothing leaves the platform until you sign it off.
- Does it come out in our own template?
- Not yet. Today you get our own working-paper layout, as a plain .xlsx you own outright. Using your firm's template is on the roadmap.
- Do you lodge to the ATO for me?
- No. You review every figure and lodge through your existing software. Nothing is ever sent to the ATO automatically.
- Which documents can I upload?
- Receipts, invoices, bank and brokerage statements, trial balances and general ledgers — as PDF, image, CSV or spreadsheet.
- What does early access cost?
- Nothing today. You get free cases to judge the output on your own files, and we'll give you notice well before anything is charged.
